Street Style Highlights from LFW
London Fashion Week is one of the quintessential style events of the year, and if you’re on the hunt for the latest ready-to-wear trends, the streets are where you need to be looking. Street style is just as important, influential and exciting as the runways because its full of real people wearing the trends from stores that we’ve all heard of. Our stylists got right into the heart of the chaos that is London Fashion Week Street Style, and snapped some photos for wardrobe-update inspiration. These are some of our street style highlights from LFW.
The modesty that turtlenecks provide is like a clean slate for the rest of your outfit. With necks to wrists covered, you can play with the amount of leg you choose to show. Try a mini skirt with a knee sock for a more youthful look, or throw on a jean with a ankle boot for a more classic look. Because turtlenecks are usually detailed around the neck and sleeves, jewellery can be kept minimal. Whether a deep, earthy tone or a bright pop of primary color, the turtleneck should be the star of the outfit. That being said, try and keep the rest of the outfit fitted and simple.
Layering has never been so fun! By adding a trendy gilet to a classic outfit, like the photo above, you can successfully update an outfit that you already have in your closet! By choosing a gilet in a neutral color, there are more styling options. A brown, black or grey will go with nearly anything in your wardrobe. Neutral doesn’t have to mean boring, though. Look for trendy pieces with feathers, embellishments, zippers, or furs. Not only do these elements keep the outfit interesting, but they also add dimension to an otherwise “flat” outfit. Belt your gilet to show off your shape, or leave it loose for a more casual approach.
The catwalks may be dominated by women, but street style is a man’s world too. We loved seeing all of the unique and fashionable choices that the men flaunted on LFW’s streets. This particular top is layered over a clean oxford shirt and paired with a simple pair of well-fitted black trousers. This is the perfect way to style such a statement piece, because it’s obviously the star of the outfit. This way, the intricacy can be appreciated more. These jewel tones also work very well together, and the man here compliments his female counterpart, who is also dressed head-to-toe in a jewel tone. That’s what we call planning ahead!
