It’s the best time of year! A New Year for a new and improved you. Many of our New Year’s resolutions include some sort of new health regime. If we could snap our fingers and turn into the fit and healthy goddess that we imagine, we would. However, it takes a bit more work than that to achieve our fitness goals. Those glasses of wine and Christmas cookies aren’t going to burn off themselves, so it’s time to pull on your trainers and hit the gym.

Just because you’ll break a sweat doesn’t mean that you can’t look fabulous doing it. Style Doctors believes that you should be able to look and feel your best whenever, and wherever you go. That’s why we’ve put together some great athletic wear style tips so you can take that treadmill in style.

Wear things that fit you

This doesn’t mean you have to be decked in spandex from head to toe, but you should wear things that fit appropriately. Oversized t-shirts and baggy sweatpants are not only unflattering, but they get in the way of your workout. You can’t do your best work when you’re being drowned by a sea of grey cotton. Try pieces that are specifically meant for working out, like racerback tank tops and biking bottoms. Even accessories like sweatbands and arch support socks can make a difference in an “eh” workout, turning it into a great workout.

Choose colours you enjoy

You’ve probably heard before that colour influences your mood. It’s true! There isn’t one specific rule book for wearing colours, but it’s important to wear colours you like when you’re working out. Whether you’re running through the woods or lifting weights in front of your telly, the colours you wear have an influence on your performance. Wear colours that make you happy and energized, like yellows, oranges, blues, pinks and greens. It’s all up to the individual person.

Don’t be afraid to invest

From your sports bra to your trainers, the better quality you own, the better you will perform. There’s no need to drop hundreds and hundreds of pounds on a workout wardrobe, but it’s probably a good idea to invest in a few important things. A good pair of trainers, a few nice tops and the right undergarments will definitely make a difference.
